Plants and people
Jonah 4 v10-11 “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”
This is the end of the story of Jonah. I like that it ends here. It is almost like the start of the journey between God and Jonah. This comes right after God gives Jonah a plant to lie under and then it is eaten by worms.
I find it really interesting how God draws a parallel between the plant that gave Jonah shade from the heat, and the people of Nineveh. Jonah enjoyed the plant, but it got corrupted by worms and was taken away from him. So to is humanity enjoyed by God, and the devil is trying to take it away.
Makes you think.
