About me

Meredith, The Sailor, and The Landscaper

Meredith was in love with a Spanish sailor called Juan, but his job kept him away at sea for years at a time. Juan was good looking, with hands that were hardened by sea salt and a moustache that made all the girls in Madrid faint. Meredith and Juan would send letters to each other, but because he was at sea fighting the Polish, letters would only get through every few months. Meredith tried to remain optimistic about the relationship, but with little to no contact she was becoming despondent.

Another Spaniard called Juan worked as a landscaper and was also in love with Meredith. The landscaper was the quiet sort who liked to go to bed at 22h00. He was a nice man, but not all that Meredith had dreamed of when she was a little girl. One day Juan the Landscaper asked Meredith to marry him.

She didn't know what to say. Eventually she went to her priest for advice.
Hello Padre, I'm in a quandary. I need to choose between the man I love who is away for years at a time, or choose to marry a dependable landscaper who will keep me happy and warm and fed. What do you think I should do?

Well Meredith this is a tough situation. I guess at the end of the day, if you can't be with the Juan you love, love the Juan you're with.

  2. It's very Pastis. Long winded set-up for a simple pun.
